Mickleton Parish Council is responsible for the ongoing costs of maintenance and the replacement of units. Mickleton Parish Council continues to welcome donations from residents and local businesses to help fund this vital service.

Mickleton has four community defibrillators, also known as automated external defibrillators (AEDs), in the village. These are for public use on victims of sudden cardiac arrest (heart attack).

These devices are accessible 24 hours a day. You will need the code C123X to open the cabinets. You will be told this code when you call the emergency services.

If you wish to make donation, please contact the parish clerk:

clerk@mickletonparishcouncil.co.uk or 01386 430393.

What are defibrillators?

A defibrillator is a portable machine that automatically sends an electric shock to the heart muscle to return it to its normal rhythm. You do not need to be trained to use the equipment – the device will talk you through what you need to do.

The devices are maintained by Mickleton Parish Council, and parts are replaced as required. The equipment is checked regularly by a team of volunteers.

A defibrillator is used when someone is having a cardiac arrest. Using a defibrillator within 3–5 minutes of cardiac arrest means that survival rates increase from 6% to 74%.

What do you do if sudden cardiac arrest happens?

1. Call 999 and alert the emergency services
2. Start CPR
3. Shout to find someone to fetch a defibrillator
4. Follow the instructions given by the device
