Gloucestershire unites against fraud with launch of new website
Gloucestershire County Council’s Trading Standards service and Counter Fraud Team (CFT) are at the forefront of a major new initiative to tackle fraud, with the launch of a new website this week.
Published: 28 November 2025
This one-stop resource is designed to help residents and businesses across the county stay informed, spot scams, and protect themselves from fraud.
It has been developed by the Multi-Agency Approach to Fraud (MAAF) group, which brings together key partners including Trading Standards, the CFT, Gloucestershire Constabulary’s Economic Crime Team, Victim Support, the NHS, local councils and other agencies. By pooling expertise and intelligence, the group aims to disrupt scams and provide coordinated support for victims.
The ‘Glass Jar’ webpage, which stands for Gloucestershire Against Scams Joint Agency Response, features:
- Alerts on current fraud trends and scams
- Advice for individuals and businesses
- Reporting tools and contact details
- Educational resources and campaign materials
Local agencies including Trading Standards and the CFT have been promoting the website at Eastgate Shopping Centre on Thursday 27 November 2025, between 10am and 2pm. Residents will have the chance to come along and talk to representatives about fraud prevention and staying safe from scams.
Fraudsters are becoming increasingly sophisticated, but by raising awareness and sharing knowledge, Gloucestershire is taking a strong stand against this crime. Residents are encouraged to visit the site, learn how to protect themselves, and help “put a lid on fraud”.

Cllr Paul Hodgkinson, cabinet member for Trading Standards at Gloucestershire County Council, said: “Fraud is one of the fastest-growing crimes and it can have devastating consequences for individuals and businesses. Glass Jar is a practical, easy-to-use tool that gives people the information they need to stay safe. This collaboration shows how agencies working together can make a real difference in protecting our communities.”
