About Mickleton’s Multi-use Games Area

The parish council runs the Taylor Drive Games Area. We are incredibly lucky to have this facility in the village, and want everyone, of all ages, to enjoy using it. The facilities include:

  • Two courts:
    • Court 1: a netball court.
    • Court 2: a tennis court.
  • A mixed-use games area (MUGA) with goal posts for:
    • 5-a-side football.
    • basketball.
    • volleyball.
  • A range of outdoor adult gym equipment. There are eight pieces of equipment – four pieces either side of the MUGA.
  • A skateboard area, which can be accessed via the gates on Taylor Drive. This area is blocked off from the rear of court 2.

Free access for casual use

The MUGA, skateboard area and the outdoor gym equipment is free to all casual users. There is no need to book to use the equipment and it will be left open to the public during the normal Games Area opening hours.

All users must bring and use their own sports equipment, e.g. balls, rackets. There are no changing room or toilet facilities available at the site.

Note
The MUGA and the entire facility can be booked in advance, e.g. for 5-a-side football, a volleyball game with friends or a business, village or school sports event. Where there is a booking in advance, this takes priority over casual users – anyone who is on the court/area will be asked to leave when an advance-booking party arrives the bookers.
Book in advance: tennis/netball courts and organised groups

The tennis/netball courts are available by booking online in advance only. Both courts are kept locked and only accessible via the key code which will be sent out by email before you are due to access the court. The first court booking availability is from 8am.

Any organised fitness groups who wish to use the MUGA must also book in advance.

There is a charge for booking the tennis/netball courts and MUGA and bookings can be made via our online booking system below.

Before participating in any sporting activity, check whether your sport is safe to play. Every sport’s national governing body should have published guidance on how to participate safely.

Follow the guidance even where this means modifications to the game.

Organised Sport
Organised outdoor sport for adults and children is permitted with any number of participants, where it is formally organised.

Any groups involved in organised sports will be asked to provide the relevant documentation to the clerk to demonstrate the following: public liability insurance, DBS checks (where relevant), risk assessments etc.

How to book a court

To book tennis/netball courts for casual play and for organised group/team sessions, please use the simple online booking facility on this page. You will be able to guarantee a court time and pay for the session in advance using a secure online payment system.

You must be 18+ to make a booking and must agree to our terms and conditions of use (see below).

Organised sports groups and teams/professional coaches are able to book the tennis/netball courts and also the MUGA pitch, as long as they can provide:

An up-to-date copy of their public liability insurance cover
Confirmation that group leaders, if working with children or vulnerable adults, have up to date DBS checks in place
A risk assessment

During the booking process you will be asked to select the date(s) and time(s) you want to reserve (for up to 8 weeks ahead) and will then be asked to register, including providing a contact phone number and email address.

Bookings must be made at least 1 hour before on the day of play.

Once you have booked and paid for your reservation (using a secure Paypal system), you will be sent a confirmation email immediately.

Please check your spam/junk mail folders if it doesn’t arrive.

You will be sent a reminder email the evening before the day of your booking, and approximately 30 minutes before the actual booking,  which will contain important details about the access code you will need to unlock the tennis/netball courts if you have booked these facilities.

Please note that it is your responsibility to take your code when you go to the Games Area – we are unable to provide support if you arrive without it.

If there is a problem with your code, please call the mobile number provided at the MUGA (07467 700754) on the day of your booking.  We cannot offer refunds if we are not alerted of a problem on the day of your booking.

Our terms and conditions of use are provided here.
