MICKLETON – HAVE YOUR SAY…
Cllr Gina Blomefield and I (Tom Stowe), as your local district councillors, are aware that an outline planning application has been submitted to Cotswold District Council (CDC) for 120 houses on a parcel of land at the back of the Shepherds Fold Cala Estate/Nursery Close/Hill View Close, North East of Mickleton.
This has generated a lot of interest.
Recent changes imposed by the Labour Government, doubling the housing delivery required in the district from approx. 500 to over 1000 per annum, have rendered some key strategic policies in the Cotswold Local Plan “out of date”.
The Local Plan is the document prepared by CDC as the Local Planning Authority which enables it to control and influence development across the district.
This means that the decision will be made using the policies in the National Planning Policy Framework where there is a “presumption in favour of sustainable development” and “permission should be granted unless the adverse impacts of doing so would significantly and demonstrably outweigh the benefits”.
Therefore, it is important that you have your say and make comments, objections or your support for the scheme known via the CDC Planning Portal via this link:
https://www.cotswold.gov.uk/…/view-planning-applications/
The application number is 25/01621/OUT
To have the most impact, it’s important that comments are based on material planning grounds – here’s some information on how best to comment on a planning application: https://www.planningaid.co.uk/…/209064089-How-do-I…
Mickleton Parish Council held an extraordinary meeting on Wednesday 30 July 2025 at the King George’s Hall, at 7pm, regarding its response to planning application 25/01621/OUT, and other planning matters.
