Mickleton Parish Council would like to thank everyone who has engaged with the hedgehog highway programme. Thank you for all of your photos and videos. The hedgehogs will be hibernating soon, so they will be missed by those who have been lucky enough to spot them in their gardens.
Mickleton Parish Council has recently seen an increase in litter at both the Junior Playing Field, off Back Lane, and the Community Games Area, off Taylor Drive.
Over the past 20 years, hedgehogs have shown a 30-75% decline across different countryside areas. One of the main reasons that hedgehogs are struggling in Britain is because our fences and walls are becoming more and more secure, reducing the amount of land available to them.
British Telecommunications Ltd. (BT) has launched a consultation into decommissioning of 16 telephone kiosks around Cotswold District. This includes the kiosk in Mickleton on the High Street/Church Lane. As a ‘listed’ structure, BT proposes to remove the telephony and lock the kiosk.
Thanks go to volunteers from Mickleton Gardening Club who carried out the new planting around the village on a wonderfully warm weekend.
