Mickleton Parish Council bronze award achievement

Mickleton Parish Council is pleased to announce that it has achieved recognition for its commitment to excellence in governance, community engagement and service delivery and has been awarded the Local Council Award Scheme (LCAS) bronze level award.

Published: 30 April 2026

The LCAS promotes high standards in parish and town councils, and is the first level of the accreditation scheme. It demonstrates that Mickleton Parish Council meets the requirements for operating lawfully and according to standard practice.

The National Association of Local Councils states:
The bronze award is tailored for councils aiming to showcase their adherence to essential standards, ensuring effective delivery for their communities. Achieving this award necessitates the council demonstrating that it possesses the necessary documentation and information to operate lawfully and in accordance with established practices. Furthermore, the council must have policies in place for training its councillors and officers, laying the groundwork for future improvement and development initiatives.

So what did Mickleton Parish Council have to do?
The council was required to show evidence of a variety of policies and procedures, annual returns, transparency of payments, calendar of meetings with minutes and agendas, budget and precept information, an action plan, evidence of community consultation, advertising council activities, councillor training and the clerk achieving continuing professional development (CPD) points… and more!
