Career: Born in Ealing, Jerry spent most of his life working for and managing a family company supplying building materials to the industry. He specialised in ceramic tiles, kitchens, bathrooms and floor finishes in general, supplying many of the high street restaurant chains, and most of the UK supermarkets. The company also had a bathroom showroom in Mayfair, noted for being next door to the Saudi Arabian Embassy. Based in Park Royal since 1967, he moved the business to Weybridge in 2011, finally selling it in 2017. He has been a volunteer adviser for Citizens Advice for seven years, and is currently with the Evesham branch.

Local interests: Jerry joined the local vineyard and theatre groups when he and his wife Maralyn arrived in 2021, and they both sing in the Stratford Choral Society. They love the local walks and have joined the Heart of England Forest and enjoy the way the countryside changes throughout the seasons.

Hobbies: Jerry played rugby until injuries took over, and also played cricket in Surrey. He was heavily involved in club, league and county administration, running the schools and colts committee for Surrey, as well as being a coach. He has a Surrey cap… he played once for Surrey Over 50s! Otherwise, he plays golf (badly) and spends much of his time walking locally and singing both in Stratford and also Worcester, where Maralyn and Jerry sang in Worcester Cathedral with the Elgar Festival Choir.

Family: He married Maralyn in 1970 after meeting at Royal Holloway College. They have three children and five grandchildren, as well as six family dogs. The family dogs seem to spend a lot of time with them! Their son lives in Milton Keynes, and they have a daughter in London and another in Berlin with husband and her two daughters. Happily, they do get to see them all from time to time.

Reason for joining the parish council: Jerry hopes to serve the community and keep himself busy. Hopefully, his life experiences will be of use to the council.

Interesting fact: Jerry was part of the club side (Merrow) which beat Surrey Cricket Club twice in one year. Both were benefit games: one for Alan Butcher and the other for Percy Pocock!
