Cotswold District Council Regulation 18 Consultation on Draft Local Plan

Cotswold District Council (CDC) has published draft options for future housing development in response to a sharp rise in government-imposed targets for new homes. The implication for Mickleton in this first draft is 590 additional houses over the 15-year period of the plan; a 60% increase from where we are today.

The consultation proper will start in November; however, the most relevant documents are already published and available to view. Please see full details, together with links to documents, in our article of 8 October: here.

Parish Council Public Consultation on Northern Trust Application

Mickleton Parish Council held a public consultation on Tuesday 7 October at King George’s Hall to hear opinions about the Outline Application from Northern Trust for the erection of 60 dwellings with means of access at Foxwold House on land south-west of Broad Marston Lane.

A summary of the consultation can be found here.

Key action point – submit comments to CDC Planning website by Tuesday 21 October against reference number: 25/02213/OUT

Anyone requiring assistance to submit a comment can get help at King George’s Hall on Saturday 11 October between 1.30pm and 4.30pm.

Withdrawal of Brookworth Homes Outline Planning Application

The application for outline planning permission for 120 dwellings Land Northeast of Mickleton by Brookworth Homes was withdrawn on the day before it was due to be assessed by CDC Planning Council. The CDC Case Officer was recommending refusal.

We expect Brookworth Homes to resubmit their application after making amendments. There is no timescale for this.

On a related issue, the temporary tree preservation order (TPO 25/00005) on the trees adjacent to Canada Lane was supported to be made permanent by several residents. A modification order submitted by the landowner to allow for pruning and essential maintenance was submitted. Local residents will do their best to ensure any such works are carried out professionally and not to the detriment of the trees’ long-term health.
