Career: Geoff retired in 2015 after a long career as a professional quantity surveyor and project manager working in London on multi-million-pound commercial and industrial construction projects in London and the south east for property developers and well-known architects. Towards the ender of his career Geoff set up his own quantity surveying practice and became involved in ‘one-off’ residential properties for private clients, with values up to £3 million.
Quantity surveying comprises briefly: preparing budgets, obtaining tenders, managing changes and agreeing final costs with contractors.
Local interests: Geoff is a member of a local rotary club and local societies.
Hobbies: Geoff has always been interested in sport, having played football, squash, table tennis and badminton to good levels, and eventually became a football referee to county standard. Geoff is now a member of a local golf club. Geoff follows and, when possible, attends sporting events. Geoff enjoys music, gardening, wine tasting, DIY and updating his current home.
Family: Geoff is married to Janet, a retired school teacher, and they recently celebrated their golden wedding. They have two sons who work for motor manufacturers. They have three grandchildren, and Geoff enjoys spending time with them
Reason for joining the parish council: Geoff moved to Mickleton in February 2021. Prior to that Geoff had been a parish council chairman for 13 years. Geoff feels it is important to put back something into the community, hence being a parish councillor.
Interesting fact: Geoff was fortunate to attend the Masters Golf Tournament in Augusta, USA, in spring 2022.
