Anna Scott
Information regarding responsibilities to come.
Career: Anna has lived in Mickleton her entire life, growing up on the original Canada Lane, next to the working nurseries. She attended the old primary school in the village and, as most do, progressed to Chipping Campden High School before attending catering college at Stratford-upon-Avon. She has had the pleasure of working at most of the establishments in the village, and many people know her for having the bright pink-and-white vintage ice cream van.
After leaving catering college Anna moved into retail, working in a busy newsagents and quickly progressing to manager, a job she thoroughly loved. Anna left to have her first child (he’s 16 now) and returned to retail at Tesco, where she was a stock controller – again, a job she thoroughly enjoyed.
In 2012, Anna made a rash purchase of a vintage Bedford ice cream van, called Abigail, and started up her own catering company called Abigail’s Vintage Scoop. Years later, she traded Abigail in for an older model and purchased a VW camper van and, with help, fully restored and converted it into another ice cream van, called Dave. Anna says this is, without a doubt, the best work she has ever done, and has amazing memories of working with incredible people, including celebrities and royalty… and she even met her husband because of it.
Local interests: Anna has been a member of the Mickleton Hoot since it was started in 2018, and more recently has taken on the role of chairperson. The Mickleton Hoot organise events throughout the village in order to build and bring the community together, the most notable event being the ‘Big Hoot’ and the most recent being to celebrate the Queen’s platinum jubilee.
Anna is still a keen event organiser for the village, putting on craft fairs and events in King George’s Hall, where Anna is also a committee member.
Hobbies: Anna is a very keen crafter, she loves card craft and making cake toppers and greetings cards. She is also a keen baker and reader (but doesn’t get as much time to do that these days with a toddler running around).
Family: Anna’s parents have lived in the village for over 50 years and her husband’s parents for almost 30 years. Anna met her husband, Alex, when they attended a volunteer meeting at The Butchers Arms, for what is now the Hoot committee. She loves that they both grew up in Mickleton with the same social circles but at different times, and they never officially met each other until 2018. Anna and Alex got married in 2021 after their original wedding got postponed because of Covid-19, and had their little boy in 2024. Between them, Anna and Alex have three boys and the most amazing dog called Tank… everyone knows Tank!
Reason for joining the parish council: Many people have said that Anna would be good as a councillor. She is passionate about the village that she and her family have grown up in, and she feels that she should try to help in any way that she can and give something back. Anna says that Mickleton is an amazing village and she wants to see it continue to bloom and to build that strong community that she grew up in.
Interesting facts: Anna once abseiled down a 200-foot building in Birmingham for charity, and she has also been an extra on the tv series Agatha Raisin, with her ice cream van!
