Career: Andrew began his professional journey as an electrical technician before serving 22 years in the military with both the Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force as an Aeronautical Engineering Officer. His military career saw him deploy to diverse global locations, from the Arctic to the deserts of Afghanistan, where he completed six tours. Andrew now holds the position of Deputy Head of Engineering and Air Domain Lead at a technical consulting firm, providing direct support to Defence and other industries.
Local Interests: Andrew and his wife, Rachel, enjoy walking their dogs in the surrounding countryside and are committed to supporting local businesses.
Hobbies: During his military career, Andrew represented his service in both Field Gun competitions and Rugby. He remains an avid gym enthusiast and is a qualified sub-aqua instructor, having dived in numerous locations worldwide. Andrew and Rachel share a passion for travelling, exploring different cultures, sampling various cuisines and visiting historically significant sites.
Family: Andrew is married to Rachel, a RAF Nursing Officer. The couple recently moved to Mickleton and share three children: the eldest is a forensic surveyor, while the other two are still in full-time education. They also have two dogs, Oakley, a Havanese, and Teddy, a rescue Jack Russell.
Reasons for Joining MPC: Andrew aims to support in improving local amenities, services and the overall quality of life in Mickleton. By connecting with local residents, fellow councillors and key stakeholders, he hopes to foster valuable relationships and contribute to long-term planning and sustainable development within the parish, ensuring a better future for all residents.
Interesting Fact: Andrew has piloted a small aircraft through mountain ranges and over the fjords in Norway.
