Mickleton Parish Council were hosts to a family sports day and picnic in the park, which was held at the sports field off Long Marston Road on the August Bank Holiday (Monday 26 August 2024). The event was a huge success, with over 100 people attending.

Mickleton Parish Council was grateful to Mickleton Sports Club for allowing the event to be held at the sports field. In doing so, this meant that the club was able to raise funds to repair the roof of the sports pavilion.

A number of stalls were run by the three clubs who use the sports field: Mickleton Rangers adult football club, Mickleton Rangers youth football club and Mickleton Cricket Club. The various stalls and activities included a cake stall, tea and coffee stall, book stall, guess the number of sweets in the jar, guess the name of the teddy bear, golf putting and a bar.

The raffle was a huge success, and thanks go to the many individuals and companies which donated prizes. In total, £709.00 was raised for the much-needed repairs.

The day finished with running, egg & spoon, sack and three-legged races for the children. The finale was a tug-of-war event, and the victors were ‘The Foo Fighters’.

Mickleton Sports Club would like to thank Mickleton Parish Council for choosing the sports field as the venue for this fun-filled day.
